The Marlboro County School District Food Service Department
is proud to continue serving families throughout the summer through its Summer Break Café
grocery distribution program.
The Summer Break Café is designed to help ensure that children in Marlboro County have
access to nutritious meals while school is not in session. Through a partnership with Carlie C's,
the district is providing grocery packages to eligible families who pre-register for the program.
The Summer Break Café program will operate through July 22, 2026, and pre-registration is
required for all participants. Families must register in advance in order to receive groceries
during scheduled distribution dates.
Parents and guardians should note the following eligibility guidelines:
• Children who are participating in and eating meals through a summer school or
summer academic program are not eligible to receive the 7-day grocery package.
• Students who receive meals through a summer school program will instead qualify for
a 3-day grocery package.
• Students who are not participating in a summer feeding program may qualify for the 7-
day grocery package, provided they have completed the required registration.
"We are grateful for our partnership with Carlie C's and for the opportunity to support families
throughout the summer months," said Anna Chappell, Director of Food Services.
"The Summer Break Café helps ensure that our students continue to have access to nutritious
food when school is not in session."
The district encourages families to register as early as possible and to carefully follow all
registration and distribution guidelines to ensure a smooth pick-up process.
For additional information about the Summer Break Café, including registration details and
distribution schedules, please call Jamie Gould at 843-456-7468 or follow the district's official
social media channels.

Marlboro Adult Education Center Celebrates Class of 2026

The Marlboro Adult Education Center celebrated the accomplishments of 28 graduates during its Class of 2026 graduation ceremony, recognizing students who persevered through challenges to reach an important milestone in their educational journey.

Among the graduates, four students earned their high school diplomas while 24 students successfully completed their GED credentials. Family, friends, faculty, and community members gathered to honor the graduates’ hard work, determination, and commitment to building a brighter future.

As part of the ceremony, each graduate was presented with a $250 tuition waiver certificate by Sheryll Marshall, Coordinator of the NETC Marlboro Campus. The certificate encourages graduates to continue their education and pursue additional opportunities through Northeastern Technical College.

Guest speaker Pastor Michael Woodham delivered an inspiring message to the graduates, reminding them that perseverance and self-belief are essential to success. He encouraged the Class of 2026 to continue pushing forward despite obstacles and emphasized that “quitting was not an option.”

The ceremony highlighted not only academic achievement, but also the resilience and determination demonstrated by each graduate throughout their educational journey. For many students, earning a diploma or GED represented a fresh start, new opportunities, and the realization of goals once thought out of reach.

With the support of Marlboro Adult Education Center and Northeastern Technical College, the graduates now move forward equipped with the tools and confidence to continue their education, enter the workforce, and pursue their future goals.
