Sheriff McNeil and Warden Bragg would like to take this opportunity to honor, celebrate, and congratulate Private Reginald Primus on becoming a United States Marine. Before deciding to serve his country, Private Primus served Marlboro County as a Detention Officer. Private Primus was the first officer to be hired by the Marlboro County Detention Center and graduate since the state allowed individuals under 21 years of age to serve in detention centers. Sheriff McNeil championed this effort to give our young citizens a start in the workforce. Although we had some to follow, he will forever be the first. We salute and thank Private Primus on this first of many milestones.
The words and his photo below are a shared with the permission of his mother from her post.

“Today, our hearts swell with pride as we celebrate our son’s incredible achievement—graduating from Marine Boot Camp! Through hard work, determination, and unwavering dedication, he has earned the title of United States Marine. We couldn’t be prouder of the man he has become and the journey he is embarking on. Semper Fi! ”

As a leader, it is your responsibility to grow the next leader. That is one of the many philosophies of Warden Bragg. That is why he is such a believer in the Southern Coastal Jail Leadership Initiative. Corporals Destyni Covington and Destiny Quick attended the week long training in Anderson, SC with officers from across the state. They will present something they learned from the training to their coworkers. We are proud of them.

On Friday, February 21, 2025 Officer Keion Madison graduated from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy with Basic Detention Class #472. Officer Madison and his classmates were celebrated by family members, coworkers, and supervisors from all over the state. The keynote speaker was Director James “Jimmy”Floyd imparted these words to graduates in his address, “Detention officers are often unseen and unsung heroes. Your work behind the walls, is equally as important and critical. You maintain order in the face of chaos. You provide stability, where there is none.” Please join Sheriff McNeil, Warden Bragg, and the entire Marlboro County Detention Center staff as we congratulate Officer Madison on a job well done!

Greetings all:

At the request of our medical professionals, the Marlboro County Detention Center is in a lockdown mode. This prevents any non-essential persons or non-essential service personnel from entering the facility. This also includes clergy. However, arrestees do have access to their respective religious leaders through the use of our telephone and visitation vendor. This service has to be coordinated by the individual arrestee. The health and safety of the arrestees are our top priority.
