The Marlboro County Sheriff's Office has arrested and charged Jessica McKinnon with providing False Report of Felonies. Upon receiving a private message from a concerned citizen through Facebook Messenger regarding the spreading of possible false information about an illegal traffic stop in Clio by two white males, the Sheriff initiated an investigation.

The shared message was located, and the individual responsible for posting the false information on her personal page was identified. The individual failed to report the incident to law enforcement or call 911, instead opted to share the information on her personal page.

Following an investigation, the individual was interviewed and provided a statement regarding her post. The investigator subsequently canvassed the area to verify the information, reviewed home security systems, and followed up on numerous tips regarding the vehicle in question. Multiple individuals were interviewed, and video footage was obtained. Law enforcement personnel then conducted a second interview with the individual after gathering all pertinent information.

During this second interaction, the individual admitted that her post was untrue. Investigators consulted with the Fourth Circuit Solicitor's Office to determine the feasibility of prosecuting the case. Subsequently, Investigator Sgt. J. Hatcher presented probable cause to the magistrate and obtained a warrant for arrest.

On 6/12/26 McKinnon was taken into custody in Dillon County without incident with the assistance of Dillon County Sheriff Office and transported to the Marlboro County Detention Center, where she awaited to be seen before a Judge.

We remind the public that sharing inaccurate information could lead to potential serious outcomes for innocent individuals. Please verify information before sharing by contacting your local law enforcement to confirm the validity of the information not shared by law enforcement or other emergency officials.
