to a powerful day of building alongside a homeowner and her family in Guatemala.

The homeowner told us that her home is shared with her sister, their four children, and their parents. Before construction could begin, the family had already carried every cinder block, piece of rebar, and 80-pound bag of concrete nearly a quarter mile down a narrow dirt path to the build site.

Habitat Guatemala provides the building materials, but delivery vehicles can only reach the nearest road. From there, the family moves everything by hand. No forklift. No carts. Every supply carried down the path, one heavy load at a time. It was a tremendous contribution before the first volunteer even arrived.

That spirit of partnership continued throughout the day. Aunts, uncles, cousins, and children gathered to watch and work alongside us. Even the kids formed a bucket brigade, carrying rocks away from the site. The youngest family member there was just three months old.

When we finished digging out the space for the new room, the homeowner cried. She was proud of what she had accomplished, and deeply moved that her parents were there to witness it.

This is what building together looks like: a family’s determination, an extended family’s support, and many hands working toward a place everyone can call home.

Timber Cottages is nearing a special milestone: nearly every family is now home. 🏡💙

Kailey recently signed her closing papers and purchased her home in Redmond, becoming the second-to-last homebuyer to move into the community.

Born and raised in Bend, Kailey has deep roots in Central Oregon and long dreamed of owning a home here. Through perseverance and hard work, she has created greater stability for herself and her daughter, Catalina.

For Kailey, homeownership represents independence, pride, and a lasting place for them to call their own. For Catalina, it means having a room of her own and sharing everyday life with her mom.

Together, they’re looking forward to cooking, gardening, going for walks, spending time as a family, and beginning this new chapter in a community they love.

Welcome home, Kailey and Catalina! 🔑🌱

🏠 Our 2025-2026 Impact Report is here!

Every door in this report represents a moment made possible through partnership: a future homeowner preparing for homeownership, a volunteer learning a new skill, a donor investing in opportunity, or a ReStore shopper giving a quality item another life. 🚪✨

Together, we opened doors across Central Oregon. Explore the people, projects, and partnerships that shaped our year, plus the opportunities still ahead.

Some partnerships keep showing up and sometimes, they arrive in style, on a flatbed truck. 💙🪵

Over the past two days, Buck from Builders FirstSource made two trips to our Bend ReStore, delivering flatbeds full of surplus lumber for our community to put to good use.

Beginning tomorrow, August 27, at 9 a.m., farm packs of lumber will be available at the Bend ReStore at prices well below market rate. Quantities are limited, and we expect them to go quickly!

Builders FirstSource has supported Women Build for the past three years, and this donation is another example of the generosity they continue to share with our organization and community. We truly love working with their team.

Thank you, Buck and Builders FirstSource, for turning surplus materials into new project possibilities and helping open more doors to homeownership in Central Oregon.

Some experiences are simply too big to fit into words. This was one of them. 💙

Last week, our Bend-Redmond Habitat Global Village team worked alongside families and Hábitat para la Humanidad Guatemala, mixing concrete by hand, pouring floors, building smokeless stoves, and helping improve homes in communities around Sololá. 🏠

The work was physical. 💪 The welcome was generous. And each day offered another reminder that home is so much more than walls and a roof. It is a place to gather, feel safe, share life, and build a future.

For one homeowner, a new concrete floor meant transforming a cold, uncomfortable room into a clean, safe space where her family could be together. Moments like that made the impact of the work feel very real. 🤝

Our team returned home sore, grateful, and carrying a deep appreciation for the families who welcomed us and the local Habitat team who worked beside us. As one teammate shared, “It’s impossible to describe what this trip has meant.” 🌎

To the families who welcomed us, the local team who guided us, and everyone who made this experience possible: thank you. 🙏

Sometimes a concrete floor is much more than a floor. 🏠

During their time in Sololá, our Global Village team mixed, poured and leveled concrete by hand alongside local partners and community members. Afterward, Isabella, one of the homeowners, shared what that work could mean for her family.

Isabella’s words were translated for the team and through that translation everyone came to understand something powerful: members of Isabella’s family had been living in separate places for shelter. A new concrete floor would make it possible for them to live together under one roof.

That evening, the team reflected on the day's work. One feeling came up again and again: gratitude. Gratitude for the family’s warmth and hospitality, for the local partners guiding the work, and for the opportunity to take part in something with such meaningful impact.

For Isabella’s family, this floor can hold more than footsteps. It can hold the everyday moments that come with being together under one roof.💙

Another day in Guatemala, and the Global Village team has chimney pieces in hand for today’s project: building smokeless stoves!

These improved wood-burning stoves use a chimney to direct smoke outside the home. Habitat Guatemala reports that the design removes 98% of smoke from inside the home, reduces firewood use, and creates a safer, cleaner and more comfortable place to cook. 🏠

The team is working hard alongside Hábitat para la Humanidad Guatemala and with only a few days left in this incredible country, they’re making the most of every moment. 💪🌎

A new day in Guatemala, and the Global Village team is working alongside local partners and community members in Sololá.

Today’s focus: building concrete floors—each batch mixed entirely by hand. 💪 From shoveling and hauling materials to pouring and leveling, everyone worked side by side to help create durable new floors for local families in their homes. 🏠

It’s meaningful, hands-on work rooted in collaboration, shared effort, and a strong sense of community. 🌎
