While this is not exclusive to Big Lake, it's always good to see people helping out others on the water as many of us know what it's like to have one issue or another on the water.

Chrissy Stone asked me to share this quick story and associated pictures. "...a HUGE thank you to the 3 boats that helped us (in the pontoon) out on Big Lake. We were behind the island and the wind took us and we ended up stuck on a sand dune. A big thank you to the wonderful Big Lake community/family."

I too would like to say thank-you to those who helped out, I am positive this has happened many times on the lake without public fanfare, so thank-you to anyone who has some to another's rescue on the lake.

With the lake capped last night, this will be the only way anyone will be able to swim in Big Lake for the next 5 or 6 months..

Just like that, we have ice out...well mostly. There is a bit left on the north side, but that should be gone by this evening. 🤞

Update on the lake ice... it's still in. On another note, the access is going to need some work, so even if ice is out by Opener, it may be tough putting your boat on the lake if they don't get enough time to fix it.

A little Labor Day Weekend treat. The Northern Lights put on a show this evening. The lights over Big Lake, not sure if it gets much cooler than that.

One week to go before the opener and the wind is going to make sure the ice is off before next week. My guess is the north side is getting some ice piling up today. I wouldn't put a dock in anywhere just yet.
