Congratulations to Katie Fellows and Lisa Kiewatt as they represent our city and state at this year’s Special Olympics games. I know you guys will indeed “rock it”!

Katie Fellows and Lisa Kiewatt were celebrated on Thursday before competing in the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, become just the third and fourth athletes from Bemidji to compete in the games.

Yesterday, I was informed that an ICE operation took place at Vista North. Several employees of a contractor working on site were detained. No requests were made of the Bemidji Police Department and BPD did not coordinate nor participate in any of ICE’s actions. As this was a federal immigration operation, no additional information has been provided to our city at present.

Fantastic to see such community support for our veterans and active duty members! It was great to be part of this 20th anniversary celebration raising funds for our local troops to assist with medical equipment, transportation, emergency aid and more.

Before motorcyclists launched a nearly five-hour journey through four counties, a pre-ride ceremony highlighted the event's importance, alongside its message of unity.

Thank you to the Bemidji Lion's Club and First City Lions Club for all their work in bringing this MN Lions Hearing Foundation walk to Bemidji! This is the 5th year we have been able to host and it’s great to see the event grow and raise more funds.
