Belvidere Police VIPS The VIPs Volunteer in our community. We help out with Traffic, parades, house fires, City Council meetings and a lot more.

Our VIPS assist with crime prevention activities such as National Night Out, Neighborhood Watch, Child Identification Fingerprinting, Bicycle Safety, Safe Night. They also assist with crowd control and barricades at special events and some critical incidents. VIPS have also been used for administrative duties such as filing, pin mapping, document preparation, Citizen Police Academy class room preparation and database development.

General information

Our VIPS meet on the 1st Tuesday of each month from 6:00 p.m. to Approx.8:00 p.m. for debriefings, training and socialization. The department continues to explore ideas for opportunities to use volunteers in a productive and meaningful way. Benefiting the department. community and the volunteer. Citizens Academy The Belvidere Police Department conducts two Citizen's Police Academies during each calendar year. The graduates of the Citizen Police Academy are eligible to apply to become members of the Volunteers In Police Service program (VIPS). How to become a VIP:

First you must attend and complete the Citizen Police Academy. The Citizen Police Academy (CPA) is an exclusive opportunity for individuals with professional or personal interest in community policing issues to acquire knowledge on police issues, practices and operations in the City Of Belvidere.
