Today marks twenty-five years since the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. For many of us, the chilling images remain vividly etched in our minds, just as they were a quarter-century ago. On this milestone anniversary, we pause to honor the 2,977 innocent lives lost at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in the fields of Shanksville, Pennsylvania. We remember the office workers, everyday citizens, and the heroic first responders—the firefighters, police officers, and emergency personnel—who ran toward danger so that others might live. We also hold in our hearts the military members and individuals who have suffered and passed away from 9/11-related illnesses in the years since.
Twenty-five years later, the promise to "Never Forget" remains our shared anchor. While time has moved forward, the resilience, unity, and selflessness displayed by our communities and our nation in the wake of that tragedy continue to define our collective spirit. Let us take a moment of silence today to pray for the families who still grieve their loved ones, to educate the younger generations who only know this history through pictures and stories, and to renew our commitment to being instruments of peace and unity.
May we never forget.
