Registration is now open for the Boone County Airborne Mapping Demonstration happening on Saturday, March 8th, 2025!

Join us at the Boone County Airborne Mapping Demonstration to learn about this exciting project, and to see the helicopter and its high-tech equipment up close. This once-in-a lifetime event for Boone County residents will showcase cutting-edge advancements in groundwater mapping technology. Hosted by Boone County in partnership with the Prairie Research Institute, Northern Illinois Regional Groundwater Planning and Protection Committee, and University of Illinois Extension Office, this event will engage participants to learn about the water resources of the county.

Region 1 Planning Council is looking for volunteers to help plant native vegetation plugs at two of their demonstration project sites. Volunteers are encouraged to bring soil knives or hand trowels, a pair of gloves, and comfortable working shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. Planting days may be rescheduled based on weather and site conditions. Free t-shirt to those that volunteer (while supplies last).
