Northlands Association for Special Recreation (NASR) is a cooperative partnership between the Belvidere, Freeport, and Rockford Park Districts. NASR programs are open to any individual with disability-related special needs such as; physical, mental, and developmental disabilities and persons with mental illness, behavior disorders, and visual or hearing impairments.

Special Olympics Summer Games – Day 2 Recap 🏅🎉

Day 2 of Summer Games was one to remember!

Our Pirates athletes had an incredible day of competition, bringing home a boatload of gold medals and showcasing their hard work, determination, and sportsmanship.

After a successful day on the field, the team celebrated with a well-deserved dinner at Applebee’s, sharing stories, laughs, and memories from the weekend. The evening wrapped up with the always-popular Victory Dance, where athletes hit the streets and celebrated their accomplishments with friends from across the state.

Congratulations to all of our athletes, coaches, and families on an outstanding Summer Games experience. We are so proud of everything our Pirates achieved this weekend! 💙🏴‍☠️🖤

🏅 Special Olympics Summer Games – Day 1: That's a Wrap! 🏅

What an incredible start to Summer Games! The Pirates gave it their all on the track and brought home some amazing results.

🥇 Athletes captured several gold medals in their individual events and a gold in the relay - showcasing their hard work, determination, and dedication.

🚶‍♂️🍃 Another great week of Walking Club! 🍃🚶‍♀️

This week, our group explored Spencer Park and completed another mile-and-a-half walk while enjoying a scavenger hunt. The fresh air, scenic views, and great company made for a wonderful afternoon outdoors.

☔️ All in between 2 different storm systems!! ☀️ 🌈

Our walkers continue to show enthusiasm, determination, and a love for exploring new places. We can't wait to see where next week's walk takes us!

🥎💪 Week 2 of softball practice is complete!

Our athletes continue to build their skills, confidence, and teamwork with every practice. From fielding drills to batting practice, everyone has been working hard and showing great determination.

We're excited to see the progress being made and can't wait for thr team’s first game of the season next week.

Our athletes wrapped up their last practice with great energy, focus, and determination as they prepare to head into competition. From sprints and relays to field events, everyone gave their best effort and showed how much they’ve grown this season. 💪❤️

We are proud of the hard work, commitment, and teamwork each athlete has put in leading up to Summer Games. Now it’s time to take that effort to the track and shine! ✨

🌸✨ Floral Creations – June Edition ✨🌸

Our Floral Creations group spent the evening exploring creativity, color, and design while making beautiful arrangements together! 💐

Participants learned how to choose flowers, arrange stems, and express their personal style through each unique creation. Every arrangement turned out wonderfully and showcased the talent and creativity within our group. ❤️

We are so proud of everyone for their hard work, patience, and artistic touch throughout the program. What a beautiful month of memories and creativity!

Participants enjoyed dinner at Portillo's for a delicious meal and great conversation before heading to 815 Escape Room to put their teamwork and problem-solving skills to the test. 🕵️‍♀️✨

From solving clues and cracking codes to enjoying food and friendship, the evening was filled with laughter, teamwork, and memorable moments. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this exciting adventure. We had a great time challenging ourselves, working together, and making new memories!
