Northlands Association for Special Recreation (NASR) is a cooperative partnership between the Belvidere, Freeport, and Rockford Park Districts. NASR programs are open to any individual with disability-related special needs such as; physical, mental, and developmental disabilities and persons with mental illness, behavior disorders, and visual or hearing impairments.

Club Horizon has had a great kickoff and last couple of weeks. From crafts to games, we’ve had fun after school time!

🏴‍☠️ Strike up the fun—Bowling season is here! 🎳

The Pirates are excited to lace up their bowling shoes and kick off another fantastic season! This week we'll focus on the basics of bowling while building friendships, confidence, and sportsmanship.

Every frame is a new opportunity to learn and improve. We can't wait to see what this season has in store!

🥎 The Pirates Softball Team are headed to State! 🏴‍☠️

This weekend, our Belvidere Park District Special Recreation Pirates Softball Team took the field at the Special Olympics Illinois Softball State Tournament!

After a season filled with hard work, dedication, and teamwork, our athletes showcased everything they had learned. From practicing their swings and fielding skills to encouraging teammates and demonstrating sportsmanship, this team has shown what it means to have true Pirate Pride.

No matter the score, we are incredibly proud of each athlete for their commitment, perseverance, and love of the game.

🏴‍☠️ The Pirates are stepping up to the plate! 🥎

Week 3 of softball post season is here, and our athletes are continuing to build their skills, confidence, and teamwork on the field.

This week’s practice focuses on:
⚾ Batting skills and making solid contact
🥎 Throwing accuracy and catching
🏃 Base running
🤝 Communication with teammates

Every practice brings new improvements and more reasons to celebrate. We are proud of the effort and enthusiasm our Pirates bring to the diamond!

The New Horizons Fall Rummage Sale is Finally Here and starting at 9am! Head on over to 6581 Revlon Drive. Sale is Thursday and Friday, September 3 and 4.

New Horizons is a leisure life skill, recreational skill, and social skill development program designed for adults with disabilities.

Our rummage sale helps our participants develop skills connected to running a sale, it gives us a chance to enhance our program through funds raised, and gives you a chance to check us out and see what cool stuff we have.

THURSDAY: 9am - 4pm
FRIDAY: 9am - 4pm

We really want everything to go so make an offer if you don’t like the price.
Please don’t message to ask how much an item is, if it’s still here, or if it can be reserved. Just come in and check it out!

Our Pirates Bocce athletes competed at the Special Olympics Illinois Region A Bocce Tournament!

Throughout the season, athletes have demonstrated dedication, teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. We are incredibly proud of all the hard work they have put in to reach this point.
