CALL SCRIPT
My name is [_your name_], and I am a constituent from [_your city and zip code_]. As we head into Labor Day weekend, I would like to urge you to support the Raise the Wage Act.
The federal minimum wage hasn't been raised since 2009, and, at $7.25, its value is lower than it has been since 1956. The cost of living for two working adults with one child is currently higher than $17 per hour in every state, including Texas.
I am calling to speak not just for myself, but for those in my community who experience the worst outcomes caused by our unlivable minimum wage, including women of color, people with disabilities, tipped workers, and youth workers.
The Raise the Wage Act will improve the quality of life of American workers and their families and drive economic growth. Supporting this bill will show voters that you are aware of our struggles and working to address them.
Thank you for your time.
