🚨 9-1-1 Myth Monday 🚨

MYTH: Texting 9-1-1 works everywhere.

TRUTH: Not all 9-1-1 centers can receive texts. Availability depends on your location and wireless provider.

If you need emergency help, calling is still the best and fastest option whenever possible. 📱

🚨 9-1-1 Myth Monday 🚨

MYTH: If I accidentally call 9-1-1, I should just hang up.

TRUTH: Don’t hang up! Stay on the line and let the dispatcher know it was an accident. Hanging up can lead to a callback or responders being sent to check on you.

A quick “Sorry, accidental dial!” helps everyone. 📱

TRUTH: Even if your phone says “No Service,” it may still be able to connect to another available network to call 9-1-1. 📱

If you’re in an emergency, always try to call.

🚨 9-1-1 Myth Monday 🚨

MYTH: Dispatchers can automatically see your exact location.

TRUTH: Not always. Cell service, Wi-Fi, buildings, and phone type can all affect location accuracy.

That’s why we ask so many questions about where you are! 📍

Today we remember the officers who never made it home.

The men and women who answered calls without hesitation, stood between danger and their communities, and gave everything in service to others. Behind every badge is a family, a team, and people who loved them deeply.

Peace Officer Memorial Day is more than a date on the calendar. It’s a reminder that freedom and safety have come at a cost for so many families across this country.

To the officers we’ve lost: we remember you.
To the families carrying that loss every day: we see you, and we honor you.
And to those still serving: thank you for continuing to show up. 💙
