It is with deep sadness the the Belpre Police Department shares the passing of retired Patrolman Jim Jobes.

Jim faithfully served Belpre and Washington County beginning in 1990 as a member of the Washington County Sheriff's Office where he served until 2004. In 2004 Jim joined the Belpre Police Department where he served as a Patrolman, Field Training Officer and Detective until he retired in 2013.

Jim was known for always treating the public and his coworkers with dignity and respect. Jim passed on his knowledge of law enforcement to many young officers he trained and was respected by all he worked with.

Rest in Peace Ptl. Jim Jobes Belpre Police Department unit 1004 you faithfully served, we have the watch from here.

Tomorrow Belpre City Schools begin a new school year. I would like to remind drivers to pay attention and slow down. Kids will be boarding school buses and walking to school so be aware while driving the roadways. The Belpre Police Department would like to wish our kids and school staff a safe and happy school year. We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.

Belpre Police Department assisted the Ohio State Highway Patrol last night within the city limits with their OVI Checkpoint. This is another great example of your local law enforcement working together to keep our local highways and streets safe. Thank you OSHP for setting it all up and coming into the city. This helps our officers share experiences and learn from other agencies as well.

We would also like to thank O.D.O.T., the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Washington County Prosecutors Office for participating as well.

ReminderThe Downtown Belpre Bridge will close at 730am for the road race. Plan accordingly.
