🐾 REMINDER: ANIMALS RUNNING AT LARGE ARE PROHIBITED

The City of Belmont would like to remind residents that City ordinance prohibits owners from allowing their animals to roam freely within the city limits. Mississippi law authorizes municipalities to regulate animals running at large and to impound animals found in violation.

Please keep your pets properly restrained and identified. Loose animals can create safety concerns for neighbors, children, motorists, other pets—and the animals themselves.

⚠️ Violations may result in the following penalties:

1st offense: Verbal Warning
2nd offense: $250
3rd offense: $500
4th offense: $1,000
Additional offenses may be determined by the City Judge.

Animals found running at large may also be impounded.

Our goal is not to issue citations—it is to encourage responsible pet ownership and keep our citizens and animals safe.

🐕 Please be a good neighbor and keep your pets at home.

⚾ Another project is getting started at the Belmont Sportsplex!

We’re excited to begin a slight makeover of Field 1, along with the addition of updated sidewalks to improve access for everyone, including better handicap accessibility.

These may not always be the biggest projects, but each improvement makes our facilities safer, more accessible, and better for the families and visitors who use them.

We’re proud to keep investing in the Belmont Sportsplex and making improvements one project at a time! 👏⚾

🛋️ BULKY ITEM PICKUP — MONDAY, OCTOBER 12

The City of Belmont will conduct a bulky item pickup on Monday, October 12. This is a great opportunity to get rid of furniture, mattresses, appliances, and other large household items that cannot be placed in your regular garbage cart.

📅 PLEASE WAIT! We ask residents not to place bulky items along the roadside until the weekend of October 10–11. Help us keep Belmont looking clean and avoid having items sitting along our streets for several weeks before pickup.

A few important reminders:

✅ Have all items roadside by Monday morning, October 12.
🌿 Separate natural vegetation such as limbs and brush from bulky items. Do not pile them together.
🚫 No household garbage — regular trash belongs in your City garbage cart.
⚠️ No tires, batteries, paint, chemicals, or other toxic/hazardous materials.

Please help us spread the word and follow these guidelines so our crews can complete pickup as safely and efficiently as possible.

Thank you for helping us keep Belmont clean and looking its best! 🏡🌳

🏛️ New Mayor’s Blog: City Facilities

Before we spend all of our time looking for something new, we need to make sure we’re taking care of what we already have.

In my latest Mayor’s Blog, I take a look at the work happening across City Hall, the Fire Station, C.C. Shook Park, the Sportsplex, Blue Springs Park, Kidstown, the Pat Allen Lodge, Public Works, our Storm Shelter, and other City facilities.

Some improvements are major projects. Others are as simple as fresh paint, pressure washing, landscaping, repairing something that’s broken, or cleaning up an area that needs attention. It all matters.

I also share some of what’s next—including playground improvements, park projects, facility renovations, accessibility improvements, and the grants and outside funding we’re pursuing to help make them possible.

Our philosophy continues to be simple:

Take care of what we have today while planning for what Belmont will need tomorrow.

These facilities belong to the people of Belmont, and we’ll keep working—one project at a time—to make them something our community can be proud of.
