Beginning Thursday, August 13 and continuing Friday, August 14, the town of Belmont’s general contractor Newport Construction will pave Concord Avenue from Common Street to the Cambridge line. Residents should seek alternate routes and parking during the hours of 7 AM to 4 PM.

Today, the Belmont Police Department would like to congratulate our very own Jacob Silva on his retirement from the Rhode Island National Guard after an incredible 31 years of dedicated service to our country and Rhode Island.
Jake joined the Belmont Police Department in early 2025 as our IT Specialist after serving more than 20 years as a Police Officer with the Portsmouth, Rhode Island Police Department.
Congratulations on your military retirement, Jake, and thank you for your 31 years of service!

Say Hi to our newest officers, Emily Ricci and Robert Ludwig!

On Monday, 8/3/2026, the Belmont Police Department welcomed our two newest officers at their swearing-in ceremony.

Emily comes to us from our communications department where she was a dispatcher during the time she was furthering her education. Prior to that, she was a sheriff’s deputy in South Carolina. Robert has transferred to us from Carlisle, where he worked as patrol officer. Both come to us with a great amount of knowledge and experience.

Update!: I have been reunited with my family. Thank you to everyone for helping me get home safe.

I was found on Longmeadow Rd. around 10 p.m. this evening (7/31/2026). I am cozy and safe at the Belmont Police Station but would like to find my family. If I look familiar please call the Belmont Police at (617) 484-1212.
