Under state regulation, a Code Blue is automatically in effect whenever the temperature and wind chill equal less than 32 degrees. Local social services districts are legally required to take necessary steps to ensure those experiencing homelessness have access to shelter and that shelter hours are extended.
If you see someone in need of shelter during this storm, call 311 in New York City, or 211 in other parts of the state.

With winter weather expected, we want to encourage everyone to prepare ahead of time.

Please be sure you have enough food, water, medications, and a safe heat source, as well as a plan in place in case of power outages or travel disruptions.

If you or someone you know is without heat, experiencing a heating emergency, or does not have safe housing, warming centers are available in Allegany County. A current list of warming centers can be found at www.Alleganycountyco.gov at the top of the homepage.

New Yorkers can also sign up for weather and emergency alerts by texting 333111 to receive updates directly to their phone.

If you are experiencing a true emergency, please do not hesitate to call 911. Delaying emergency assistance can put your health and safety at risk.

Your safety and well-being are important. Please take precautions, check on neighbors when possible, and stay safe and warm.

Home delivered meals and Congregate sites are closed today due to icy conditions.

Our office will be closed Wednesday 12/24 and Thursday 12/25 for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. There will be no congregate sites or home delivered meals those day. Have a happy holiday everyone!
