Week two is officially in the books! Speaking of books, I have had two adorable little readers visiting me in the mornings this week. It has been my favorite part of the day!

At the end of last week I put my acting skills to the test as I participated in a skit to help students model how to behave around and interact with me when they see me at school. It wasn’t hard at all! I just laid on the carpet where Mrs. Kaminski told me to and took a nap. And somehow I made lots of kids laugh. The strangest part is, ever since I did that skit, kids aren’t just walking up to me and petting me! They are asking Mrs. Kaminski first and using their self control when they are told they cannot pet me. But don’t worry, I am still getting plenty of pets!

Today I visited Mrs. Walla’s fourth grade class as they were working on some fun, imaginary stories complete with creating their own comic strips. I heard stories about a lawn mower turning into a Time Machine and a polar bear book from the Book Bus transporting a student to the arctic. The students were working hard, sharing their stories with each other, and laughing through the heatwave.

What a great start to my 5th year as a comfort dog!

Today’s highlights:

🧡Welcoming kids at the front doors
🧡Seeing all of my old friends at our whole school assembly
🧡Flag raising ceremony
🧡Meeting SIX of our new students
🧡Helping one student through a moment of anxiety
🧡Showing a new student the sensory room
🧡Visiting Ms. Walla’s class who deserve a special shoutout for demonstrating tip top RAMS behavior
🧡Watching Mrs. Guy’s class practice walking in line in the hallway. They nailed it!

I can’t wait to be back tomorrow! Hope you all had a great first day, too. See you tomorrow, Belmont.

We are back at school and getting ready for all of our students to join us next week!

Today I took my test to re-certify my Comfort Dog certification. I made just a couple mistakes but I fixed them quickly, gave my best effort, and passed with flying colors!

As a reward I met up with my friend Java to play! We are currently patrolling the school making sure it is all ready for our Belmont Bobcats to return on Monday. We cannot wait to see you all!

Today I went to the dog beach for my human sister’s birthday. I loved meeting new friends, running on the beach and laying in the water. I’m not much of a swimmer, but more of a “soaker”. I sure wore myself right out tonight!

Sweet Anni, I am so grateful to have met you. Your kind, gentle spirit clearly radiated to everyone around you. While I did not have the privilege of getting to know you very well, our visit on Friday was and will remain the highlight of my comfort dog career. You were strong, you fought with such grace, and your Rockford Ram Pack will miss you greatly. We know that you are now pain free, and we hope that you are dancing your heart out, with that beautiful smile on your face, and most certainly dressed head to toe in pink.

Jovie & all of Belmont Elementary send our most heartfelt condolences to Anni’s family and friends. We all know the impact that Anni has made, and we are so grateful to have known her. We will continue to spread love and kindness just like Anni, as best we can each and every day. 🩷
