Belmar Republicans announce slate for Mayor and Council positions in the 2026 Primary election.
Mayoral Candidate Councilman Mike DeBlasio
Council Candidate Suzanne Anan
The Belmar Republican Committee is pleased to announce their endorsement of Councilman Mike DeBlasio for Belmar Mayor and Suzanne Anan for Belmar Council in the June 2, 2026 primary.
Both candidates are very active in our Belmar community.
Mike was elected to the Belmar Council in 2025. He and his wife Jennifer have two children, both graduated from St. Rose Grammar School. Mike's family is fifth generation Belmartians.
Mike is the owner of DeBo Construction, and a licensed Civil and Construction Engineer. Mike is also an agent and Partner at Haven Realty, located on Main Street in Belmar. He has extensive experience in all aspects of planning, zoning and construction.
Mike is in his fifth year as a Belmar Planning Board member. Over this time Mike has observed significant communication failures and lack of communication from the current administration. Along with his duties as a council and planning board member, he is very active with St. Rose Church, serving on the Parish Counsel and coaching the St. Rose Grammar School softball team.
Mike's decision to run for mayor was when he experienced the lack of transparency, not only to the public, but to the council members as well. Mike's voting record shows his concern for the residents of Belmar. One of Mike's main priorities will be to discuss with residents the option of changing our form of government, with his goal to eliminate the current Strong Mayor form. In other words, reduce the Mayor’s power and allow the votes of council to have a voice and effect on decision making.
Suzanne and her loving and supportive husband Mike have lived in Belmar for almost 24 years. They raised two children who graduated from Belmar Elementary School. She is a parishioner of Saint Rose. Her two sons are both in college and work as a Belmar lifeguard and camp counselor over the Summer.
Suzanne is an award-winning, world-renowned artist who has had exhibitions around the world. She has her own conceptual design business with clients in the Visual and Performing Arts, including The State Theatre of NJ, and the Newark Museum.
Suzanne designed the Belmar Wave logo which she allows Belmar to use free of charge for their municipal and community needs.
She also donated two of her original oil paintings to hang in Borough Hall.
Suzanne holds an AS from Brookdale Community College, a BFA from Kean University and a Master's Degree from New York University. She is an adjunct professor at Kean University.
Suzanne remembers back during hurricane Sandy, and after the storm, the town came back better and stronger because people worked together.
Belmar joined together no matter their political party. Her major goal will be to restore and unite Belmar. She looks forward to sharing her ideas and learning the hopes and needs of the community and she will do this with her whole heart.
Suzanne firmly believes that Mike DeBlasio is the best person to lead Belmar for the next four years. Mike is a man with great integrity, intellect and kindness. Suzanne would like to work closely with Mike to give our residents the respect they deserve and the transparency that was promised to them.
