🚨BLIZZARD WARNING & STATE OF EMERGENCY ARE IN EFFECT🚨
A Blizzard Warning remains in effect through Monday afternoon. A potentially historic winter storm will bring significant snowfall, strong winds, and moderate coastal flooding.
⚠️ Downed trees and power lines may cause extended power outages. All power outages should be reported directly to Jersey Central Power & Light.
⚠️ Roads are expected to become impassable tonight. Travel should be limited to essential personnel only.
🚗 Parking & Snow Removal:
• Move vehicles off roadways and into driveways to assist DPW plowing operations.
• If no driveway is available, residents may park at: Dempsey Park, Maclearie Park, Belmar Marina, Belmar Municipal Lot (Belmar residents), and Behrman Park (Lake Como residents).
• No Parking on Main St. beginning 6:00 PM Sunday.
• Snow ordinances will be strictly enforced, including ticketing and possible towing by the Belmar Police Department during and after the storm.
🧹 After the Storm:
• Clear sidewalks promptly.
• Do NOT shovel snow back into the roadway.
• If you have a fire hydrant near your property, please clear snow around it to assist emergency response.
🗑️ Service Updates:
• All trash pickup is canceled for Monday.
• The recycling center will be closed.

❄️ Blizzard Warning – BELMAR & LAKE COMO ❄️

Snow will begin Sunday afternoon and continue through Monday afternoon. Forecasts are calling for 12–24 inches of snow, wind gusts up to 55 mph, and moderate coastal flooding. Heavy snow and strong winds may cause downed trees and power lines, which could result in power outages.

Please take time now to prepare and avoid unnecessary travel once the storm begins.

🚗 PARKING RESTRICTIONS

To assist DPW crews with plowing operations, residents are asked to move vehicles off roadways and into driveways.

If you do not have a driveway, follow your local snow parking ordinance. Residents may also utilize the following parking lots,

For Belmar residents:
Dempsey Park, Maclearie Park, Belmar Marina, Belmar Municipal Lot

For Lake Como residents:
Behrman Park

❄️ WINTER STORM WARNING ❄️

A winter storm is expected to begin early Sunday morning and continue through early Monday. Forecasts are calling for significant snow accumulation, with snow expected to change to sleet and/or freezing rain Sunday afternoon, leading to icy and hazardous conditions. Snow is expected to accumulate on roadways throughout the day Sunday.

Due to the heavy snow and freezing rain, downed trees and power lines may occur, which could result in power outages. Following the storm, very cold temperatures are expected to remain throughout next week. Please take time now to prepare for both the storm and the prolonged cold weather.

🚗 PARKING & SNOW REMOVAL
Residents are asked to move vehicles off roadways and into driveways to allow DPW to plow efficiently. If you do not have a driveway, residents may use the following parking areas:
• Dempsey Park, Maclearie Park, Belmar Marina, Belmar Municipal Lot (Belmar residents)
• Behrman Park (Lake Como residents)

• Please shovel sidewalks promptly
• Do not place snow back into the roadway
• If you have a fire hydrant near your property, the Fire Department asks for your assistance in clearing snow from around it to help ensure a quick response in an emergency

A strong coastal storm will impact the area Sunday and Monday. The National Weather Service’s latest weather briefing is forecasting winds up to 60mph, 3-5 inches of rain, moderate coastal flooding, and significant beach erosion. The Sunday afternoon high tide (12:29 pm) and Monday morning high tide (1:12 am) are the times to watch for moderate coastal flooding, which may lead to the closure of Hwy 35 and other flood-prone areas, including Shark River and Oceanfront. Power outages will also be a concern due to the strong wind gusts.

Moderate coastal flooding is expected during this evenings high tide which is around 7:00pm. This may result in flooding of low lying areas throughout town including Highway 35. If flooding does occur, expect road closures and follow any detours that may be in place this evening. Minor coastal flooding is also possible for tomorrow mornings high tide which is around 7:30am.

**Flash Flood Warning**

Severe thunderstorms have led to flooding throughout town. Numerous roads including Highway 35 are flooded and closed. If possible, avoid traveling until the storms have passed. Storms are forecasted to continue throughout the evening.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect. Snow will begin this evening and continue throughout the night. Weather forecast are calling for 3-5 inches of snow in the Belmar area. Snowfall is expected to accumulate on the roadways overnight.

Be sure to follow local snow ordinances regarding parked vehicles to allow DPW to clear the roads efficiently. Snow ordinances can be found on the Belmar or Lake Como Borough websites or you can call the Belmar Police if you have any questions.
