[4:15 A.M. Thursday, August 18] Here is a look at a forecast summary through the weekend. After some morning fog, today looks quiet as does tonight. Even though we cannot entirely rule out a very spotty shower or two this afternoon, it should generally be a pleasant day.

Chances for rain will gradually creep into far northern Illinois on Friday and inch eastward Friday night. These peak on Saturday and Saturday night as well as Sunday. Temperatures will warm some on Friday and then be a bit cooler this weekend, especially Sunday, due to abundant cloud cover expected.

The 2022 "Taste of Bellwood" is underway! Bellwood Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management officers are assisting with communications, lighting and security for the annual celebration.

Bellwood Department of Homeland Security & Emergency Management staff provided the honor guard,and took part in the funeral procession this morning, for Milton Sabel. Milton, a longtime member of the unit, was also the father of our Chief Mike Sabel.

Showers and storms with torrential rainfall across northwest Illinois will drift eastward north of I-88 through mid-morning, but may expand as far south as I-80. Rainfall rates over 2 inches per hour are likely with storms and could lead to flash flooding, especially for areas that saw heavy rain on Sunday.
