The Bellwood Police Department will be participating in the Triton College Fall Job Fair on October 7, 2026. Many Officers will be in attendance so bring your questions about the Bellwood Police Department and the law enforcement professional in general. Mark your calendars and hope to see you there.

Career Fair
Triton College will host a free Career Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., in the Student Center Cafeteria (B Building). The job fair will showcase careers opportunities in health care, manufacturing, hospitality, criminal justice, business and retail. Registration is required.

“In the past, we've had a variety of employers participate in the Career Fair,” said Lorena Gasca, director of Triton College’s Career Services Department. “These employers have included Illinois Department of Human Services, Freedman Seating Company, Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel, Illinois Tollway, Endeavor Health, Northwestern Medicine and Sonoco. We encourage participants to check the Career Services website regularly for updates.”

Attendees are encouraged to bring clean, unfolded copies of their resume in a folder and to dress in professional attire.

On August 20, 2026 the Bellwood Police Department had four recruits graduate from the Cook County Sheriff's Academy at Triton College. The event was held at Proviso East Hight School. We would like to congratulate each one of them as they continue their journey to become Full Time Bellwood Police Officer. Their next phase is training with a Field Training Officer. Officer Edward Campbell, Officer Guadalupe Miranda, Officer Cameron Daggett, and Officer Zachary Melchiorre. Please welcome them if you should see them in the community. Thank you to the staff who attended the gradution and special thank you to Mayor Andre Harvey who took the time out of his busy schedule to attend the event.

The next neighborhood watch meeting is on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 7:00pm and the topic is "Introduction to Services and Resources for Local Neighborhoods by Nora La Porta, Communtiy Liaison, Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Come out, it should be a good one. Hope to see you there.

On Friday, July 31, 2026 the Bellwood Police Department participated in the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Back to School Fest at Memorial Park District. The children were excited about getting back to school and checking out the squads. Check out the pictures!

Mr. Omar Perez has joined our Police Department as a probationary police officer and was sworn in July 28, 2026. Mr. Perez will attend the Cook County Sheriff Police Academy at Triton College on August 31, 2026. We wish him well as a first generation police officer.

On July 19, 2026 attended the Lions Picnic for the sight impaired in Lyons Illinois. Met 13 incredible military veterans from Hines VA with sight impairments. Had some incredible conversations from these heroes from all over the Midwest. Had a great time and it was a honor and privilege to meet and talk with them.

Had another informative Neighborhood Watch Meeting on July 16, 2026. The topic was Artificial Intelligence (AI). Mr. Robert Dawson of Strategtic Data Products presented on the topic. See the attached take-home guide and see everyone in August.

On June 27, 2026 members of the Bellwood Police Department volunteered their time to participate in the Community Clean & Green day. We were part of the paint team and helped beautify the town. Thanks to all the other volunteers who came out, the room was at capacity. Hope to see everyone next year!
