❌Combustible devices
❌Operating or using any device with an internal or external combustion engine without a spark arrest device properly installed and in effective order

CURRENTLY ALLOWED:

✔️Gas or liquid fueled fires, including grills and camping stoves
✔️Open burning (official forest management purposes)
✔️Execution of authorized burn permits
✔️“Permissible fireworks” which do not leave the ground, as defined in Colorado State Statute (C.R.S. 24-33.5-2001(11))

PLEASE use good judgment if you're performing one of the activities that are allowed. Always be aware of your surroundings and play it smart. Preventing wildfire is everyone's responsibility!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Wildfire Community Preparedness Day Open House! We had a great turnout and enjoyed chatting with new residents as well as long-time neighbors. Members of our Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) Team were on-hand to explain the status of the planning process and collect feedback. Other responders chatted with attendees about our equipment, fire mitigation tips, and anything else people wanted to know.

Special thanks go out to our friends at Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Larimer County Sheriff's Office, and Colorado State Forest Service, who brought lots of useful information about how to enjoy and take care of the beautiful mountains and forests we call home. 🏔️🌲🫎🦉

A huge shout-out goes to the volunteers who put this whole event together! 🥳🥳🥳 Do you live in our response area and wish you could do something to help out, but you're not quite up to fighting fires or doing medical care? Just reach out--our volunteers do so many things!!

🔥LARIMER COUNTY FIRE RESTRICTIONS: MARCH 25-MAY 5, 2026

On recommendation by the Larimer County Sheriff, the Board of Larimer County Commissioners today voted 2-0 to adopt fire restrictions in unincorporated Larimer County since the danger of wildfire, forest and grass fires are great due to above-normal temperatures, lightning strikes, and windy, dry conditions.

As of 12:01 a.m., March 25, 2026, restrictions on open fires for the unincorporated portions of Larimer County go into effect. These restrictions stay in effect until 11:59 p.m., May 5, 2026. Also in effect are restrictions on the combustible devices, public firework displays and incendiary devices. This is NOT a fire ban.

⚠️This restriction is in effect for unincorporated Larimer County BELOW 9,000 feet.

RESTRICTED TODAY
❌Uncontained Open Fires
❌Smoking in the open is not allowed, including on trails, parks and open spaces

ALLOWED
✔️Fireplaces or wood stoves located inside a residence
✔️Gas-fueled fires, including grills and camping stoves
✔️Camping and cooking fires in developed camping areas
✔️Fires in permanently constructed masonry fire pits

In order to address fire risk while still accounting for different climate areas, Larimer County has implemented a zoned approach to restrictions. The county is divided into three zones: below 6,000 feet, 6,000–9,000 feet, and above 9,000 feet. View a real-time, interactive map of the restriction area here: https://aegis.larimer.gov/

On this wonderfully snowy day (yay snow!!!!), we look back to a bright sunny day in February when RCVFD held a special Saturday training session, helping newer responders brush up on their truck operation skills. These bonus trainings are driven by requests from responders and provide extra hands-on practice with equipment and gear in an informal setting.

RCVFD is working on a new Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) and we need your input!

We want to make sure the new CWPP reflects our community and its needs, risks, concerns, and environment. You can help by spending 15 minutes taking this survey! Also please encourage your neighbors to take it. The more responses we get, the better the CWPP will be.
