Austin County Emergency Medical Service is a branch of the Austin County Government and the sole 911 Provider to the Citizens and Visitors within our Communities. We cover 663 square miles of Austin County and serve a population of approximately 25, 000. We are fully staffed with 7 Frayser Ambulances, 1 Paramedic Response Vehicle, and 1 Paramedic Supervisor.

A Busy Day for Austin County EMS!

Today was an exceptionally busy day for Austin County EMS. At several points throughout the day, we had more active emergency calls (all dispatched within a 30-minute period) than we had ambulances immediately available to respond.

We want to recognize and sincerely thank our dedicated crews who worked tirelessly throughout the day (even staffing an extra unit) to ensure our community continued to receive the highest level of emergency medical care.

We would also like to extend our appreciation to all of the Austin County fire departments, Austin County Sheriff’s Office Dispatchers, Waller County EMS, Washington County EMS, and East Bernard EMS for your mutual aid assistance.

When our community needed help, our regional public safety partners answered the call. Their willingness to assist helped minimize response times, maintain emergency coverage, and provide outstanding care to the citizens of Austin County.

This is what teamwork looks like. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, professionalism, and commitment demonstrated by everyone who helped keep our community safe today.

Last week, Austin County EMS Station 2 had a very special visitor!

She stopped by to thank the crews for the care she received last year, and we were so happy to see her recovered and doing well. Moments like this mean so much to our team and remind us why we do what we do. We also told her that we would post this picture up for her and make her famous, so everyone say Hey! 👋

Lots of big things happening at Austin County EMS this morning!

This morning, Austin County EMS held a special pinning ceremony filled with celebration, recognition, and a few surprises.

Chief Morrow and Assistant Chief Ritchey proudly promoted Paramedic FTO Cole Taylor, Paramedic FTO Naftali Krauss, and Paramedic FTO Cory Neptune to the rank of Lieutenant. With the help of each FTO’s family members, Command Staff were able to successfully surprise and pin these hardworking paramedics.

Over the last several months, these individuals have dedicated themselves to training, growth, and preparation for the leadership challenges ahead. Their commitment to Austin County EMS, their crews, and the citizens we serve does not go unnoticed. Today, we proudly recognize their hard work and celebrate this next step in their careers.

Congratulations, Lieutenants Taylor, Krauss, and Neptune!

A few days ago, Austin County EMS was also proud to add another paramedic to our ranks. Congratulations to AEMT Daisy Svatek on completing your paramedic program, successfully passing your National Registry exam, and obtaining your Texas Licensed Paramedic certification!

Displaying that red and gold patch is a symbol of the hard work, dedication, and sacrifice you have put into your education, your professional growth, and your commitment to improving patient care for the Austin County community. We are extremely proud of you and excited to see you continue to grow in your career.

And finally, we had one more very special surprise for Clinical Manager Daniel “DO” Owens. This surprise was so special that we had to sneak his family in through the back doors to keep him from realizing what was coming.

Little did he know, his family would be joining us as he was officially promoted and pinned as Clinical Chief of Austin County EMS.

Clinical Chief Daniel Owens has continuously and passionately advocated for patient care, clinical excellence, process improvement, and better outcomes for Austin County EMS. His dedication to this service, our providers, our patients, and the Austin County community is truly unmatched.

Day and night, Clinical Chief Owens has worked to ensure that the citizens and visitors of Austin County receive the highest level of care we can provide. His leadership, compassion, and drive to improve those around him continue to inspire providers in the field and leaders throughout the organization.

Thank you, Clinical Chief Owens, for being such a strong advocate for Austin County EMS and the community we serve.

So proud of these guys.

A few weeks ago they identified an Anterior STEMI (Widow Maker Heart Attack) and successfully transported the patient to a cath lab for full treatment and recovery.

The catch? They provided this care over a 55+ mile transport. This is rural medicine defined.

Throughout transport they provided treatment, updated the receiving hospital with repeat EKGs via Pulsara, and reduced time to cath lab through the best of their abilities.

They 100% saved a life and prevented potential long term damage with their actions. They also received praise from the receiving facility. So incredibly proud of them and wanted to share their work.
