Here’s a look at some of our most recent controlled burns! Bells firefighters have been busy burning many brush piles all over the community the past few weeks, and greatly appreciate all donations received. With the hot weather approaching, the Bells fire department is accepting donations for water/gatorade. To have on our apparatuses to be able to stay hydrated on the calls we attend during the heat.

We were just informed that TxDot will be doing tree maintenance on S. Pecan between 9 am and 3 pm today November 29th. The highway will be down to 1 lane during this time.

Congratulations Austin! Last night, one of our members, Austin Young, graduated from Fire In Texas. He has completed the 12 week course for the TCFP Basic Structural Firefighter. Austin still has to pass his state test to be certified, but we have no doubt he will be able to accomplish that!

Yesterday evening, while returning from a fire alarm in Whitewright’s district, your Bells firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in Whitewright. The homeowner and her son were home, asleep at the time of the fire. The homeowner was woke up due to intense heat. Luckily, they were able to make it out through a bedroom window prior to first responders arriving. There were smoke detectors in the home but they did not work. It is very important to make sure your smoke detectors are working! The homeowner and her son are very lucky to have made it out before being overcome by smoke. Strong work by all involved! Busy afternoon for your Bells firefighters. We were dispatched for mutual aid on a hay fire, while Tender 91 was responding they came upon a head-on collision on Hwy 69. Engine 91 and Med1 responded to the wreck and took over, Tender 91 continued to Whitewright to assist with the fire. Luckily there were no injuries at either incident.
