Planning to go underway this weekend, maybe head offshore to go after those bluefin tuna you've been hearing about? Be sure to check your safety equipment, the marine forecast and make a float plan so your loved ones know what to expect of your trip.
A float plan can be simple or in depth but should cover the name and description of your boat, where you're launching from, where you're headed and when you'll be back. That way, if you're not back when you were expected to be they can pass the information to the Coast Guard to help us find you. Remember to update your family if plans change so a long dinner doesn't lead to an unnecessary search.
