Multiple auxiliary units from the county came to assist the Village Of New Hyde Park with their St. Patrick’s day parade.

We also took a moment to recognize and thank Inspector John Concannon, Commanding Officer of the New Hyde Park unit, for his 41 years of dedicated service to the Nassau County Auxiliary Police and to the people of Nassau County. He will be retiring from the program this month.

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Inspector Richard Vela

Inspector Vela was a member of the Nassau County Auxiliary Police since 1983. He has spent the last 5 years as the Commanding Officer of the Bellmore Units. Prior to that he was Commanding Officer of the Valley Stream unit. He was also the Commanding Officer of the auxiliary police academy for many years.

He was one of the most, if not the most decorated member of the program and was greatly respected among the members of the program and the community.

Services will be held on Monday January 20th from 2pm to 7pm at:
