Sunday I had the honor of attending the ribbon cutting for Lummi Nation’s new Secure Withdrawal Management and Stabilization Center (SWMS), ShoqweL Ya’ LhaoLh-ew’xw.

This Lummi Nation operated facility is the first of its kind on tribal land in Washington. The center will provide 24/7 withdrawal management and stabilization services, medication-assisted treatment, and wraparound care designed to support individuals and families through recovery close to home and surrounded by community.

It was truly beautiful to witness such an important milestone centered on healing and compassion. I sincerely appreciate the invitation.

What a wonderful afternoon at the 2026 Women Sharing Hope 26th Annual Champagne Luncheon, Handbag & Garden Auction 🌸🥂👜

As a member of this incredible organization for many years, it’s always inspiring to see so many women come together in support of our community. The afternoon was filled with laughter, generosity, friendship, and a shared commitment to making a difference right here in Whatcom County.

This year’s event benefited the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center and The Y Youth & Education Program, two organizations doing important work to support youth, families, education, and connection in our community.

Thank you to everyone who donated, volunteered, attended, bid, and helped make the event such a success. I’m proud to be part of a group of women who continue to show the power of community and compassion.

I had such a great time attending the 24th Annual Whatcom Humane Society Gala & Auction, “Close Encounters of the Furred Kind.” 🐾✨

It was a fun and meaningful evening celebrating the incredible work being done to care for animals in our community. From the creative theme to the generosity in the room, it was inspiring to see so many people come together to support such an important cause.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the evening a success and to all who continue advocating for the wellbeing of animals across Whatcom County. 💜

The Lummi Victims of Crime hosted a MMIP walk today to honor their missing and murdered loved ones. It was truly an honor to be invited to walk alongside them in solidarity and support as we said their names.

Washington state continues to face a heartbreaking Missing and Murdered Indigenous People crisis. According to Washington State Patrol and state task force reporting, more than 100 Indigenous people have recently been listed as missing in Washington, and Indigenous women and people remain disproportionately represented in unresolved homicide and missing persons cases.

These numbers are far too high. It is important that we all stand together, say their names, make space to share their stories, and say enough is enough.

As a mother who has lost a child, it breaks my heart to hear the stories of family members whose loved ones have gone missing or been murdered.

I spent a beautiful day at the Blessing of the Fleet at the Blaine Harbor. It was a great opportunity to connect with so many wonderful people, hear what matters most to them, and spend time in a setting that means so much to this community.

Grateful for the conversations and the chance to be out listening and learning.
