Huge thank you to Bellflower Brethren Church for hosting a hygiene kit packing party last Sunday!

So many people came together to help pack kits that will go directly to neighbors in need throughout our community. Simple things like soap, toothpaste, deodorant, and basic hygiene supplies can make a big difference in helping people feel cared for, seen, and valued.

Special thanks as well to Pastor Tom for his years of constant support, leadership, and heart for serving the community. Really grateful for churches like Bellflower Brethren that continue to show up, serve well, and love people in practical ways.

We really are better together. 💙

A grant can help launch a project, but the learning behind it matters just as much.

As part of the Church in the City Cohort, participating churches spend the year learning from providers, community leaders, and one another before developing project ideas for potential micro-grant funding.

These grants (up to $10,000) help churches move thoughtful ideas into practical action.

For some churches, that may mean strengthening a volunteer care ministry. For others, it could look like improving how neighbors connect to local resources or creating a more sustainable neighborhood support effort.

But the real goal is bigger than funding.

It’s helping churches build wisdom, relationships, and long-term strategies for serving people well.

We’re excited to celebrate this year’s projects soon and grateful for the churches investing deeply in their communities.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Kingdom Causes Bellflower!

Today, we celebrate the moms, grandmothers, foster moms, spiritual moms, aunties, mentors, and all the women who show up with love, sacrifice, strength, and care for others every single day.

From sleepless nights with newborns to praying over grown kids, giving rides, making meals, offering hugs, and holding families together in quiet ways that often go unseen… thank you. We see you, and we honor you.

Whether you’re celebrating your mom, grieving one, stepping into motherhood, or simply thankful for the women who helped shape your life, we hope today is filled with love, appreciation, and a little extra rest if possible. 💛

Local churches are already caring for their neighbors, and the Church in the City Cohort helps them go deeper.

At Kingdom Causes Bellflower, this cohort is not just a class or a one-time training. It’s a year-long learning community where churches come together to listen, ask questions, build relationships, and grow in practical mercy and justice work.

Throughout the year, churches hear from local providers, connect with organizations already serving the community, and learn alongside other churches facing similar questions.

Sometimes that looks like improving a church’s outreach process. Other times, it means building referral relationships with local housing or food providers, or shaping a neighborhood care idea into something sustainable and long-term.

We believe churches are strongest when they don’t have to do this work alone.

If your church is interested in learning more about future cohort opportunities, we’d love for you to stay connected: www.kcbellflower.org/about-cic

⚠️ Edison bills have changed, and you may have already seen the difference.

The new billing structure is now in effect, and for many neighbors, monthly costs look higher than expected. If your bill seems different, we’re here to help.

You can:

🔹Review what’s changed
🔹Learn how to read your new bill
🔹Explore steps to take if your balance is overwhelming

Understanding the change is the first step toward navigating it. Visit www.kcbellflower.org/edison to learn more or connect with a case manager for support.

Big thanks to Arbor Road Church (https://arborroad.com/) for partnering with us again this month as we served our homeless neighbors here in Bellflower.

Your team showed up with willing hands and open hearts, helping share resources, conversation, and a reminder that our neighbors are seen and valued. These simple moments of presence and care matter more than most people realize.

Grateful to serve our city together. 🤝💙

A big thank you to 562 Graphics
(https://shop.562graphics.com) for partnering with us to get the Kingdom Causes Bellflower and Good Soil Industries vehicles decaled! 🚐

Because of their great work, our trucks and vans are now out on the streets of Bellflower, clearly representing the mission and the work happening every day.

We love seeing our Good Soil participants walk up to the trucks with their heads held a little higher. There’s a real sense of pride in stepping into a vehicle that represents their work, their effort, and the fresh start they’re building. And our hope is that when a KCB van pulls up, our neighbors in need would see us and feel a small sense of hope and peace, knowing someone has come to help and that they are not alone.

We’re grateful for local partners like 562 Graphics who use their skills to strengthen and support the work of people development and community restoration.

Keep an eye out for the KCB and GSI vehicles driving around, and be sure to smile and wave hello! 👀
