For more than 30 years, the City of Bellflower has remained committed to investing in programs and services that strengthen public safety, support residents and enhance quality of life for the community. π
Here are three key initiatives that have made a lasting impact across our city since 1996:
π Utility Users Tax (1993)
Approved by Bellflower voters, this measure provided critical funding that assisted in the creation of the Public Safety Department in 1994. The department initially operated out of the Teen Center at Simms Park before moving to its present location, where it is now celebrating 30 years at the substation from 1996 to 2026. Today, this funding continues to support vital public safety and Sheriffβs resources.
π³ Southwest Patrol Program (2018)
Enhance Sheriff patrol services, the Southwest Patrol has helped maintain a visible and consistent presence in our parks and city facilities, contributing to a safer community for all.
π New Hope Shelter (2020)
Bellflower became one of the few cities to operate a city-run shelter, demonstrating a proactive and compassionate approach to addressing homelessness and supporting those in need.
These initiatives reflect Bellflowerβs continued dedication to safety, service and community well-being. β¨
