As our community evaluates internet and communication service options, we believe it is important for residents to have clear and honest information before making decisions.
Unlike private, for-profit companies, the City does not qualify for many forms of federal funding and incentive programs that private providers are eligible to receive. Despite this disadvantage, the City continues to take pride in providing reliable service and strong customer support to our residents.
We also encourage residents to carefully review promotional offers being advertised. For example, if a company is offering a specific promotion exclusively to Bellevue customers, residents should ask why that same promotion is not being offered to all of their customers in our surrounding communities.
Additionally, some companies advertise that they provide both fiber and wireless internet service, but they may not clearly explain that many Bellevue residents are currently unable to receive fiber service at their location. Residents should verify what type of service is actually available to their address before signing up.
Before agreeing to any service, we encourage everyone to ask the following questions:
· Is there a contract required?
· Are there early termination fees?
· What equipment costs must be paid upfront?
· Who is responsible if equipment fails or needs replacement?
· Are there monthly equipment rental fees?
· What internet speeds are guaranteed versus “up to” advertised speeds?
The City remains committed to transparency, customer service, and ensuring residents have the information needed to make the best decision for their household.
We thank you for your continued support!
