It’s that time of year again remember to change your clocks, but even more important change your batteries in your smoke detector. But if you don’t, you can call 911 in middle of the night and we’ll get out of bed and come and change them for you.

Class L Fire Extinguisher - Detailed Explanation

Class L fire extinguisher is specially designed for lithium battery fires, which are becoming common due to EVs, e-bikes, mobiles, laptops, power banks, and energy storage systems.

What is a Class L Fire?

Class L fires involve:

Lithium-ion batteries

Lithium metal batteries

These fires are very dangerous because:

Batteries can self-ignite

Fire can re-ignite after extinguishing

Release of toxic gases

Very high temperature

Class L Fire Extinguisher

A Class L extinguisher is specially formulated to:

Cool the battery

Suppress thermal runaway

Prevent re-ignition

* Extinguishing Agent Used

Depending on manufacturer:

Aqueous Vermiculite Dispersion (AVD) - most effective

Special water-based cooling agents

Encapsulating agents

! Normal water, CO2, or DCP are NOT effective for lithium battery fires.
