Thanks to a quick response by the Park Grounds Team, this injured bald eagle at Newcastle Beach Park was safely retrieved by state wildlife officials and brought to a licensed rehabilitator today.

Newcastle Beach Park is reopening for swimming.

Recent water quality testing shows bacteria levels have returned to safe levels, and closure signs will be removed tomorrow, June 4.

Today, Coal Creek Natural Area is known for its lush forests, peaceful trails and beautiful scenery. But hidden throughout the landscape are reminders of the area's rich mining history.
