The IRS announced disaster tax relief for individuals and businesses in Nebraska, primarily those affected by wildfires:
• In Morrill, Garden, Arthur, Keith, Grant, Lincoln, Dawson, Frontier, Saunders, and Red Willow counties affected by wildfires that began on March 12, 2026;
• In Custer County affected by the Pressey Fire that began on April 22, 2026;
• In Buffalo, Fillmore, Gage, Jefferson, Nemaha, Richardson, Thayer, Thurston, and Howard counties affected by severe storms in Nebraska that began on May 15, 2026;
• In Dawes County affected by wildfires that began on May 16, 2026; and
• In Sioux County affected by wildfires that began on June 9, 2026.
These clients now have until Feb. 1, 2027, to file various federal individual and business tax returns and make tax payments. The same relief will be available to any other counties added later to the disaster areas.
