We had the opportunity to visit Midwest Career Source (MCS) today alongside Senator Christoper Belt, LaToya Greenwood, and Brad Goacher of Touchette Regional Hospital. Drs. Sulbrena Day and Ronald Caradine updated the group on the great work happening at MCS including their expanded curriculum and future plans. The Intergovernmental Grants Department has been a long-time partner of MCS through our Workforce Development Group. MCS provides much needed training for a variety of medical field disciplines and has an outstanding reputation and success rate throughout our medical community. Through a grant provided by the Illinois Department of Human Services, sponsored by Senator Belt and then State Representative Greenwood, the Grants Department was also able to provide the funding needed to update MCS’s lab. This update was critical in ensuring MCS students have access to the training and equipment they need to transition directly into medical career pathways after graduation. We appreciate the relationship we have with all involved and look forward to being able to share amazing success stories in the future.

Congratulations to Belleville Community Development Corporation (BCDC) on another successful project. St. Clair County was pleased to provide the funding for this project using Housing and Urban Development (HUD) HOME funding. St. Clair County provides funding to Community Home Development Organizations like BCDC to help municipalities and townships maintain affordable housing. Once complete these homes are sold to low to moderate income families. In some instances, an additional first-time homebuyer’s grant may be available. St. Clair County has been providing funding for projects like this for over 25 years. We appreciate our partnership with BCDC and look forward to many more years together.
