The purpose of this site is to promote our five central tenets: Learning, Relationships, Respect, Excellence, and Equity. We are the Wildcats! As a school community, we pride ourselves on offering “big city opportunities with small town service.” This begins with a school culture that all stakeholders- students, staff, parents, and the community- create. Within the past decade, Belleville has prom
oted the “Wildcat Way.” Through our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system, students are taught safety, respect, and responsibility. This has translated into fewer student discipline problems and a more productive atmosphere. When students feel safe and comfortable within their learning environment, they can achieve at extremely high levels. The School District of Belleville received an overall school report card score of 80.2 for the 2018-19 school year. That “exceeds expectations” and is the third highest score in Dane County. It is also the highest in the Capitol Conference South. In 2019, the Wisconsin State Journal specifically pointed to Belleville’s scores in its summary of Dane County schools’ performance on the Wisconsin Forward exam. “Belleville posted some of the highest gains in English/Language Arts, increasing by about 22 and 23 percentage points in the fourth and eighth grades, respectively.” Belleville’s ACT scores have topped the Wisconsin average every year since it became a statewide assessment. For 2019-20, Belleville’s Advanced Placement scores soared above the national average by nearly 10 percentage points. Belleville High School also honored three National Merit Finalists in 2021. Belleville earned a Distinguished District designation from Project Lead the Way in 2020- one of only four Wisconsin school districts with this distinction and by far the smallest district in this select group. For students who struggle, Belleville offers interventions in reading and mathematics based on state assessments, STAR scores, and teacher recommendations. Our goal is to provide interventions to students under the 25th national percentile and teach them the necessary skills to advance out of these interventions. Finally, Belleville offers 25 clubs and activities along with 12 no-cut athletic programs. Our advisors and coaches work together so that students can participate in more than one activity at a time, and really, do it all! The School District is nestled in a small community southwest of Madison, and is located in both Dane and Green Counties. Belleville is a great community for families seeking a solid educational system with “big city opportunities” along with the natural amenities and conveniences of a small town where their students can grow up in a hometown that cares about its Wildcat family.
