For 29 years, the Belleville Volunteer Firefighters have proudly hosted our longest running fundraiser — and it’s more than just dinner, it’s an experience.

Our firefighters prepare fresh cod, potatoes, and onions the traditional way in large outdoor kettles over an open fire. As the boil reaches its peak, we run fuel over the wood to dramatically “boil over” the pots in a burst of flames and steam that you have to see in person!

Once it’s ready, the food is carried straight from the kettles to the serving line by our firefighters and served fresh inside the fire station.

Seating is available inside the station, and you’re welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy the park across the street picnic-style.

Check out what happens just before your meal is brought up to the serving line at our Fish Boil! Come down this Saturday and experience it for yourself. Serving times are 5pm 6pm and 7pm! It is a family friendly event with dinner tickets available now from any firefighter and the day of the event.

The final steps in building a new fire truck are critical for both the dealer and the customer. Take a closer look with us as we complete this important step.

The final step in the manufacturing process allows fire department representatives the opportunity to inspect their fire trucks and test components as required. Over the course of a day, the truck was reviewed from bumper to tailboard, and from the undercarriage to the hose bed, to ensure every component, nut, bolt and screw is in optimal condition.

Part of our truck committee recently spent the day on the blue floor going over every inch of our new engine.

With our dealer we spent over 8 hours going over our order and options-list and went through each item, one by one. Using an innovative computerized reporting system, called e-pickup, the customer can document any items they find that do not meet their expectations; these may include incomplete options or workmanship repairs, like a paint blemish, loose screw or wiring malfunction. Blue tape, a description of the needed change and a photo were all documented at this point in the process. We also had the opportunity to road test and pump test this engine for the first time.

Our dealer will then work with Pierce to correct anything we found before taking the truck home.

It is great news seeing our “last report”, part of our truck committee, who’s job it was to develop and design this truck is getting our first look at it in person this week on the factory floor.
