Drier air has moved in from the northwest nearly putting an end to any thunderstorm chances on Thursday. By Friday a passing weather disturbance will draw moisture northward bringing a good chance for showers and storms. Moisture should linger through the weekend with at least isolated activity continuing.

Monsoon struggles continue except if you're in the right place. For today and Wednesday that means mainly the eastern Mogollon Rim and White Mountains. We are still looking at the potential for monsoon activity to spread across all of northern Arizona on Friday and Saturday. But don't hang your hat on that, monsoon weather gets very tricky this time of year.

The monsoon will be leaving most of us for a few days with any decent chance for a shower or thunderstorm confined to far eastern Arizona. The forecast is for a return of monsoon moisture and widespread thunderstorm activity toward the weekend but that outcome is tenuous at best. The end is near.

Temperatures will be slightly below normal through Labor Day. The best chance for showers and thunderstorms through Saturday will be over eastern AZ, with only slight chances elsewhere. Deeper moisture arrives Sunday, especially in northwest AZ where there is a threat for flash flooding.

Isolated storm activity is expected for the next few days as drier air moves into northern Arizona. Also expect temperatures a few degrees below normal and slightly breezy daytime winds. Precipitation chances look to increase towards the end of the week.
