Drier air has moved in from the northwest nearly putting an end to any thunderstorm chances on Thursday. By Friday a passing weather disturbance will draw moisture northward bringing a good chance for showers and storms. Moisture should linger through the weekend with at least isolated activity continuing.

Not much change from what we've been seeing. A few afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms the next couple of days, with the best chances over the White Mountains of far east-central Arizona. In addition, high pressure has returned bringing perhaps the last few truly hot days.

Monsoon struggles continue except if you're in the right place. For today and Wednesday that means mainly the eastern Mogollon Rim and White Mountains. We are still looking at the potential for monsoon activity to spread across all of northern Arizona on Friday and Saturday. But don't hang your hat on that, monsoon weather gets very tricky this time of year.

The monsoon will be leaving most of us for a few days with any decent chance for a shower or thunderstorm confined to far eastern Arizona. The forecast is for a return of monsoon moisture and widespread thunderstorm activity toward the weekend but that outcome is tenuous at best. The end is near.

Expect mostly cloudy conditions today with the highest chances for showers & t-storms in NW AZ and the White Mtns, slight chances elsewhere. Drier Labor Day except over the White Mtns where storms chances linger. Temperatures will be close to normal for early September.

Most areas will remain dry today with only isolated showers or t-storms. By Sunday, better chances for showers & t-storms are forecast in NW AZ and the White Mtns. Temperatures will be close to normal for early September.

Temperatures will be slightly below normal through Labor Day. The best chance for showers and thunderstorms through Saturday will be over eastern AZ, with only slight chances elsewhere. Deeper moisture arrives Sunday, especially in northwest AZ where there is a threat for flash flooding.

Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms mostly towards eastern AZ today, then a slight chance for continued nocturnal storms tonight. Storm coverage and intensity will increase tomorrow, but still be mostly focused towards eastern AZ.

Today will be breezy with more isolated thunderstorms. A few stronger storms are possible, mostly towards the AZ-UT border. An increase in moisture with active monsoonal conditions is still expected towards the end of the week.

09/01/2026

Isolated storm activity is expected for the next few days as drier air moves into northern Arizona. Also expect temperatures a few degrees below normal and slightly breezy daytime winds. Precipitation chances look to increase towards the end of the week.
