Sending a HUGE shout out to United Way for awarding us a grant to purchase this umbrella for our playground at Discovery Center. We now have a spot to provide some shade for our littles! We appreciate your support, United Way!

Happy Grandparents Day!

Today, we celebrate the grandparents who are a special part of the journey for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Grandparents are often cheerleaders, advocates, caregivers, listeners, and a steady source of love and encouragement. They celebrate the big milestones, the little victories, and everything in between. They help remind their grandchildren that they are loved, valued and capable of amazing things.

To all the grandparents in our LCBDD community: thank you for the love, patience, support and joy you bring to your families. Your role makes a difference every single day.

The Logan County Braves are proud to recognize John Manning as our September Athlete of the Month!

John has been involved with Special Olympics for many years and continues to show his dedication both on and off the playing field.

In 2024, John was part of the National Unified Bowling Team that competed in Baton Rouge, where the team brought home the Gold! John also participates in several bowling leagues at TP Lanes, where he has worked hard to improve his average to over 200! He recently competed in a USBC Bowling Championship in Columbus as well.

John is also an outstanding softball player. At the Braves' recent Regional Tournament, the team came up just one point short, with John making a big impact as both a pitcher and batter. His contributions on offense and defense helped his team throughout the tournament.

Congratulations, John! Keep up the great work!

🌈 Growing Beyond Discovery 🌈

We are excited to feature Alexis in our Growing Beyond Discovery alumni series!

Alexis is heading into her junior year at Bowling Green State University, where she is majoring in social work. After completing her undergraduate degree, she plans to continue her education by pursuing her master’s degree.

One of Alexis’s favorite memories from Discovery Center was drawing on the easel with Miss Lisa.

Alexis says Discovery Center helped teach her the importance of working well with others and always treating everyone with respect—lessons that continue to guide her today.

Good luck to Alexis as she continues her studies at Bowling Green State University!
