The Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department would like to remind parents and juveniles that city curfew ordinances remain in effect pursuant to City Ordinance Sections 16-16 through 16-18.

Curfew hours for juveniles under the age of 17 are:

- Friday and Saturday nights: 11:55 PM to 6:00 AM
- Sunday through Thursday nights: 10:55 PM to 6:00 AM

Under City Ordinance Section 16-16, juveniles are prohibited from being on or about streets, highways, sidewalks, or other public places during curfew hours unless accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, authorized adult custodian, or otherwise exempt under the ordinance.

Section 16-17 also places responsibility on parents and guardians to ensure juveniles comply with curfew laws.

Officers will continue proactive patrols throughout the city to help ensure the safety of our community and juveniles during overnight hours.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to know where their children are and ensure they are home before curfew.

The Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department is reminding everyone to buckle up every trip, every time. Wearing your seat belt greatly reduces the risk of serious injury or death in a crash and takes only seconds.

From May 18 through May 31, officers will be out in force as part of the national Click It or Ticket campaign conducting proactive traffic enforcement with a focus on seat belt violations and other dangerous driving behaviors.

Whether you’re driving across town or just down the street, make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained before putting it in drive.

Click it. Don’t risk it.
