250th Celebration Flags Available!

The City of Belle Plaine displayed white 250th flags on our flagpoles in celebration of the 250th anniversary.

The flags have now been taken down, and we’ve received interest from residents who would like to have one. We will place the very limited number of flags in the front entry of City Hall starting on Thursday, September 17, where they are available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please note:
• We will not be taking reservations or setting flags aside.
• Staff will not be available to assist with distribution.
• Once all flags have been taken, we will update this post.

At the September 8, 2026 City Council Meeting the Council approved the Large Assembly Application for Belle Plaine Festivals & Events for Oktoberfest to be held in Downtown Belle Plaine on October 10 from 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM.

🚧 Upcoming Traffic Impacts on Hwy 169

Drivers should plan ahead for upcoming closures and lane reductions on Hwy 169. Information will be posted as additional details become available.

ROAD CLOSURES

📅 10 p.m. Wed., Sept. 16 – 5 a.m. Thu., Sept. 17

Southbound Hwy 169 will be closed between Hwy 21 and Co. Rd. 59 (Delaware Ave.).
Detour: Hwy 21 (Broadway St.) → Co. Rd. 66 (Old Hwy 169 Blvd.) → Co. Rd. 59 (Delaware Ave.).

Northbound Hwy 169 will be closed between Co. Rd. 59 (Delaware Ave.) and Creek Ln.
Detour: Co. Rd. 59 (Delaware Ave.) → Co. Rd. 66 (Old Hwy 169 Blvd.) → Hwy 21 (Broadway St.).

LANE CLOSURES

📅 Thu., Sept. 17 | 5 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Northbound Hwy 169 will be reduced to one lane between Co. Rd. 59 (Delaware Ave.) and Hwy 282/Co. Rd. 9.

At the September 8, 2026 City Council Meeting the Council approved the Large Assembly Application from the Belle Plaine Chamber of Commerce for Downtown Trick or Treating to be held October 30 from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM in Downtown Belle Plaine.

Today, members of the Belle Plaine Police and Fire Departments climbed 110 floors on the stair climber in honor of the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to remember the courage, sacrifice, and service of the 343 firefighters, 37 Port Authority officers, 23 NYPD officers, and all those who lost their lives that day.

We are proud to honor their memory and ensure that their sacrifice is never forgotten.

TH 25/CSAH 3 Roundabout Project

🚧 Construction is expected to begin September 14, 2026.

The project will improve safety and traffic flow at the TH 25/CSAH 3 intersection.

On Monday, Sept. 14, crews will close the Highway 25 / County Road 3 intersection to begin roundabout construction. During this closure, both Highway 25 and County Road 3 traffic will be detoured to East State Street and North Linden Street (see map below).
