Charged with Operating While Intoxicated, first offense.

8-7-2026 Matthew J. Fedewa, 35, of Belle Plaine, Iowa
Charged with Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury. Also charged with Violation of a No Contact Order.

8-9-2026 Jeremy S. Smith, 44, of Belle Plaine, Iowa
Arrested on Intrastate Warrants. Original charge Criminal Mischief.

8-23-2026 Juanita I. Andrade, 27, of Belle Plaine, Iowa
Charged with Driving While License Suspended.

8-31-2026 Brandon W. Dietze, 27, of Belle Plaine, Iowa
Charged with two counts of Harassment in the First Degree and Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon.

One – charged with filing false reports.

7 Citations for Traffic Offenses were issued in August 2026.
28 Warnings for Traffic Offenses were issued in August 2026.

There were two motor vehicle accidents reported in August 2026.

In August 2026, 199 complaints/calls for service were handled by the Belle Plaine Police Department.

Please join us on Saturday, August 29, 2026 as we team up with the Belle Plaine Fire Department and Belle Plaine Area Ambulance Service for a children’s safety fair. This will be held at Franklin Park from 10-1PM. There will be a lot of cool exhibits and fun things for the kids! See you then!

Last Wednesday night (8-19-2026), the Belle Plaine City Council passed an ordinance dealing with e-bikes and scooters. The graphic shared below mentions most of the high-points of the ordinance.

Today (8-24-2026) is the first day of school! Wishing all of our Belle Plaine Community Schools students a great first day back to school and a great year overall.

Motorists, please watch for kids crossing the streets on your morning commutes this morning and this afternoon after school is dismissed!
