Background:
The City received a Resilient Florida grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) to complete a citywide vulnerability assessment (VA) to identify critical assets at risk of flooding, prioritize flood protection and/or mitigation activities, and prepare a proposed adaptation plan. Drummond Carpenter, a local engineering and planning consultant, is assisting the City through this process, which commenced in January 2026 and will conclude in July 2026. On behalf of the City, Drummond Carpenter will host two online public meetings, the first on March 19, 2026, to explain the FDEP-prescribed VA process and to seek public input on critical assets and flooding issues. The second online public meeting will likely occur in June 2026, when the results of the flooding analyses will be presented, along with prioritization and adaptation concepts. Information on the FDEP Resilient Florida Program can be accessed here: Resilient Florida Program | Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
