The Belle Fourche Police Department is seeking assistance in preserving  the history of the department. As part of a project to preserve the history of the BFPD and carry it into the Department’s next chapter, we are collecting historic photographs of the Department, its officers, police vehicles, and related items.

Selected materials will be featured in a permanent display at the new police facility. If you have photographs you are willing to share, please message this page or visit City Hall. Staff can photograph or scan original prints so that you may retain them.

As winter and our first snowfall approaches, it is helpful to make sure abandoned vehicles, boats, campers, trailers etc. are removed from the streets now, to avoid issues when it snows. Officers will be looking more closely for items being stored on streets within the next few weeks and taking actions to get them removed. Please do your part in making sure these items are not stored on the streets.

Update: The fire along Hwy 85 has been extinguished. Traffic is back to normal. Thank you to the Belle Fourche and Butte Fire Departments for their quick response.

A community reminder: during an emergency situation when First Responders ask you to move or leave the scene, it is for your safety and the safety of those responding.

You may watch from a safe location where you’re not obstructing the scene.
