📸 Learning, collaborating, and bringing new ideas home!

Our team recently attended the Keep Louisiana Beautiful Affiliate Regional Meeting, where community leaders from across the state gathered to discuss beautification efforts, litter prevention, illegal dumping enforcement, and ways to strengthen local communities.

We appreciate the opportunity to connect with fellow affiliates and look forward to applying what we've learned to help keep Plaquemines Parish clean, welcoming, and beautiful.

Thank you to Keep Louisiana Beautiful and Keep St. John Beautiful for hosting this informative event and for their continued commitment to improving communities across Louisiana.

UPDATE: Illegal Dumping Incident Resolved Through Safe Disposal Efforts

Following the March 24 alert from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry regarding 37 illegally dumped chemical jugs off Walker Road in Belle Chasse, Plaquemines Parish Government took action to protect public safety.

On April 24, 2026, Plaquemines Parish Government firefighters transported the hazardous materials to the designated disposal company at Lafourche Parish Government for proper handling and disposal. By managing transportation in-house, the Parish helped reduce taxpayer expenses while ensuring the chemicals were disposed of safely and in compliance with regulations. Total disposal costs were $975.

Illegal dumping is not a victimless act. It creates costs for taxpayers, threatens our land and water, and pulls parish personnel away from critical services that support our community.
This incident is a strong reminder that protecting Plaquemines Parish takes all of us.

How you can help:
• Report illegal dumping or suspicious activity to Plaquemines Parish Government, local law enforcement, or the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry.
• For disposal guidance, contact the Plaquemines Parish Solid Waste Department North Office at (504) 934-6990 or South Office at (504) 934-3706.

Plaquemines Parish remains committed to keeping our parish clean, safe, and beautiful.

This week at BNI, Parish President Keith Hinkley shared how Plaquemines Parish government works together across infrastructure, public services, finance, economic development, and quality-of-life departments to keep our parish moving forward.

It was also a great opportunity to connect with local small businesses and professionals through BNI, a networking group dedicated to building relationships, sharing resources, and supporting the small businesses that help drive our local economy.

Thank you to BNI for fostering collaboration, connection, and conversations that strengthen Plaquemines Parish and support continued growth for our business community.
