This week, Bellbrook PD recognizes National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week and honor the incredible men and women behind the headset—our dispatchers.

They are the calm voice in the chaos, the steady hand guiding both our officers and our community through critical moments. Often unseen, but never unappreciated, their dedication, professionalism, and compassion make a difference every single day.

Thank you for your tireless service and your commitment to keeping Bellbrook safe. We are grateful for all that you do.

🚨 Springtime = Nerf War Season 🚨

We know it’s a fun tradition for many of our local students—but every year, we also see real risks that come with it.

Across Ohio, “Nerf Wars” have led to:
• 🚗 Car crashes and reckless driving while chasing opponents
• 📞 911 calls for “suspicious persons” when players hide, wear dark clothing, or ambush others
• 🔫 Dangerous misunderstandings—including a Cincinnati incident where a teen was injured after being mistaken for a real threat and shot in the foot with a firearm.

👮‍♂️ Play smart. Stay safe:
• Never play in or around moving vehicles
• Don’t trespass or hide on private property
• Keep Nerf blasters brightly colored—never alter them to look like a real firearm
• Avoid masks or behavior that could alarm others
• If you encounter police, follow commands immediately

Have fun—but remember: not everyone knows you’re playing a game.

🚑🚒🚓 A Life Saved Through Teamwork
At the March 9 City of Bellbrook Council meeting, members of the Bellbrook Police Department, Bellbrook Fire Department, and Greene Central Communications were recognized by Premier Health for their life-saving actions on January 8.
After a passerby called 911 upon finding a gentleman unresponsive in his driveway, the dispatcher quickly initiated the response. Bellbrook Police arrived in about 80 seconds, began CPR, and delivered the first AED shock within 2 minutes of the call. Fire/EMS crews arrived moments later, continued advanced care, and transported the patient to the hospital—where he regained a pulse while en route.
Thanks to the quick actions and teamwork of everyone involved, the patient was discharged just three days later and returned home with no neurological deficits.
👏 This incredible outcome highlights the power of rapid response, training, and teamwork across the entire emergency response system.
