Today we celebrate Labor Day, a national holiday dedicated to honoring the contributions, hard work, and achievements of workers across the country. It’s a day to recognize the people whose dedication keeps our communities safe and moving forward.

As a reminder, City of Bellaire offices are closed today in observance of the holiday, and there is no solid waste collection. Please do not place your solid waste on the curb.

Police and Fire emergency services available 24/7.

We’re excited to share that the Bellaire City Library is continuing its accreditation with the Texas Library System for 2027! 🎉📚

Accredited libraries enjoy access to statewide interlibrary loans, funding opportunities, TexShare Cards and Databases, and more. Libraries that report also qualify for summer reading program materials and may participate in E‑Read Texas. This accreditation helps us continue offering great resources, expanded access, and quality service to our community.

Here at Bellaire City Library, we usually post about library services and upcoming programs, but today we’re making an exception for a cultural icon near and dear to our hearts. 💖

Dolly Parton was celebrated for her music and artistry, but we admired her most for her generous spirit and commitment to literacy. Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, more than 300 million books have reached children worldwide, including right here in Bellaire, Texas. This past year, the Bellaire City Library and our community partners were fortunate to bring the Imagination Library to Bellaire, putting books into the hands of our youngest patrons and families who need them most.

We’re heartbroken by the loss of such a kind soul, but grateful for the lasting impact Dolly has made on our library and community. Stop by this week to take a selfie with Library Dolly and check out a book or two about this one-of-a-kind woman. 💕

📚 That's a wrap! Yesterday we said goodbye to our amazing summer intern, Emily, on her last day at the Bellaire City Library - Texas.

From helping with library services to always lending a hand, Emily made a wonderful impact this summer. Even more exciting, she has officially completed the requirements for her Master of Library Science degree! 🎉

Congratulations, Emily! Thank you for everything you've done for our library - we're cheering you on as you begin this exciting new chapter. 💙
