Last night, Detective Andrade presented a case study on a 2024 Bellaire shooting to the Bellaire Citizens’ Police Academy Alumni Association. Attendees were able to follow the investigation from the initial 911 call, patrol response, CID investigation, and ultimately the capture of the suspect by State Troopers.

This behind-the-scenes look gave alumni a deeper understanding of how multiple agencies and divisions work together during critical incidents.

On 05/28/2026 at approximately 9:25am, officers were dispatched to a shoplifting in progress after a suspect pushed a loaded shopping cart past all points of sale and exited the store without paying. Officers quickly located the suspect and recovered more than $1,000 worth of stolen merchandise.

Kelly Newman was taken into custody and charged with theft with previous convictions.

Great response time by “A” Shift and great job "Making the Difference"!
Note: The included picture is employees scanning the items for a total amount stolen.

Great job by our “A” Shift officers, CID, and UAV team!

Five teenagers decided to steal a few hundred dollars worth of cosmetics from the wrong H-E-B. Our CID division supervisor quickly located the suspects a few streets over and notified the drone team, who maintained surveillance from above until marked units arrived.

At that point, all five suspects decided to run. Between the drone overhead, CID jumping into foot pursuits, and “A” Shift officers coordinating the cleanup, all five suspects were safely taken into custody.

Outstanding teamwork, communication, and persistence by everyone involved! But we have to ask... where was your 13 year old child today?

And in completely shocking, absolutely unexpected news… Sergeant Younger was (again) voted Best Instructor of the Class for the Bellaire Citizens' Police Academy Class #8.

We’re not saying it was rigged, but after 3 years, Sergeant Deliphose is not amused.

Last night, Class #8 of the Bellaire Citizens’ Police Academy officially graduated after 10 weeks of learning the ins and outs of the Bellaire Police Department!

Throughout the academy, attendees got a behind-the-scenes look at every part of the department, including patrol, detectives, dispatch, animal control, jail operations, auto theft investigations, and more.

We appreciate each member of the class for investing their time to learn more about the work being done every day in and around the community they live in.
Chief Hester was proud to present the graduates with certificates recognizing 30 hours of instruction and hands-on learning about our department.

Congratulations again to CPA Class #8, and welcome to the alumni family!

Last night, our officers were able to cool down with some refreshing lemonade from members of our awesome community.

Later in the shift, one of our officers cleaned out his desk and uncovered a true throwback… an old-school Bellaire Police bumper sticker.

Who was lucky enough to enjoy some lemonade and sun this weekend OR rock one of these bumper stickers “back in the day”?
*Bonus points if you still have the sticker on your car.
