Today we celebrate Labor Day, a national holiday dedicated to honoring the contributions, hard work, and achievements of workers across the country. It’s a day to recognize the people whose dedication keeps our communities safe and moving forward.

As a reminder, City of Bellaire offices are closed today in observance of the holiday, and there is no solid waste collection. Please do not place your solid waste on the curb.

🐾 FOUND DOG — LOOKING FOR OWNER / HOME 🐾

This guy was dropped off at the fire station, and we’re trying to help get him where he belongs.

Someone has already offered to take him in 3 days if no owner comes forward. However, if he is claimed before then, we’d be very happy to reunite him with his family.

Fire Incident Update – Pont Alba Apartments

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 25, the Bellaire Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at the Pont Alba Apartments in Bellaire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a significant fire involving multiple apartment units and immediately initiated an aggressive fire attack while conducting search and rescue operations.

The fire ultimately impacted 16 apartment units. Fortunately, no residents were injured during the incident. Two firefighters were evaluated and treated for heat-related injuries and are expected to make a full recovery.

Due to the size and complexity of the incident, the Bellaire Fire Department was assisted by neighboring agencies through mutual aid. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Houston Fire Department, West University Place Fire Department, and the Southside Place Fire Department for their rapid response, personnel, and resources. Their professionalism and teamwork were instrumental in bringing the incident under control and ensuring the safety of our community.

The American Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast responded to the scene and provided immediate assistance to residents who were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Residents affected by the incident are encouraged to continue working with apartment management and the American Red Cross as recovery efforts move forward.

The Bellaire Fire Department remains committed to protecting the lives and property of our residents and is grateful for the continued support of our mutual aid partners, the American Red Cross, and the community we proudly serve.

Today, we celebrated a time-honored fire service tradition with a Truck Push for our new ambulance Medic 41 unit! 🚑🔥

Welcoming Medic 41 into service is a meaningful way to recognize the pride, dedication, and unity that define the fire service.

A truck push is a long-standing tradition held when a new apparatus is placed into service. Firefighters gather to physically push the vehicle into the station bay, a symbolic act representing teamwork, readiness, and unity. The tradition dates back to the days when fire wagons were pulled by hand or pushed into the station. Today, it honors our history while welcoming new equipment that will serve and protect the community.

It’s a powerful reminder that every new unit represents our commitment and shared mission to keep residents safe.

⚡ A big thank you to CenterPoint Energy for taking the time to train with the Bellaire Fire Department this week!

Our crews, along with firefighters from the West University Place Fire Department, had the opportunity to learn more about the hazards associated with electrical emergencies, how to recognize dangerous situations, and the safest ways to operate around energized equipment. Training like this strengthens our partnerships and helps ensure we can provide the safest and most effective response for our communities.

We greatly appreciate CenterPoint sharing their expertise and giving our firefighters valuable insight into the unique challenges electrical emergencies present. Opportunities like these allow us to better prepare for real-world incidents while reinforcing the importance of scene safety and coordinated response.

Thank you again to the CenterPoint Public Safety Team for investing your time and knowledge, and to our neighbors at West U Fire Department for joining us for another great day of training.

Sometimes the best part of the job is connecting with our community.

Earlier today, crews responded to a small grass fire along the railroad tracks. After firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and ensured the area was safe, we had the opportunity to let a few neighborhood kids help spray some water on the already extinguished area.

Moments like these help build trust, create lasting memories, and maybe even inspire the next generation of firefighters. A big thank you to our residents for always supporting the Bellaire Fire Department. Stay safe, and remember to call 911 if you ever see smoke or fire.

We are incredibly excited to be putting our new Medic Unit into service over the next couple of months!

This has been a long time coming, and we are grateful to the City of Bellaire City Council and the citizens of Bellaire for their continued trust and investment in the Bellaire Fire Department. Your support allows us to provide the highest level of emergency medical care to our community while ensuring our firefighters and paramedics have the equipment they need to serve safely and effectively.

This new medic unit represents our ongoing commitment to delivering exceptional prehospital care when our community needs us most. We look forward to placing it in service and continuing to serve the City of Bellaire with pride.

Meet Fire Commander Nathan (Nate) Minich, a dedicated leader in our Fire Department and a driving force behind both daily operations and long term advancements. He manages a full range of responsibilities for Shift B, including on scene safety management, training, and more.

Commander Minich also serves as the EMS Coordinator for the department, ensuring our emergency medical services run smoothly and efficiently. In addition to his EMS leadership, he is a founding member of the Special Response Team, helping to establish and shape one of our most specialized units in collaboration with the Police Department.

Before joining the fire service, Nate proudly served as a U.S. Marine for 12 years, bringing a strong foundation of discipline, service, and leadership to his role here in Bellaire.

When he’s off duty, Nate is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and spending quality time with his family and their three Weimaraner dogs.
