The newly established Green Committee board members will serve to advise the mayor and City Council members on sustainable practices and environmental concerns, promoting a healthy environment and policies related to such, and educating the public about best practices regarding sustainability, recycling, herbicide use, yard waste, and reducing greenhouse gases.

The board consists of seven members appointed by the mayor and confirmed by City Council. Members serve three-year terms and must live or own property in city limits.

Septic systems are the most widely used type of wastewater treatment in Bella Vista homes. The diagram below depicts the different parts of a septic system.

Your system could be a little different, but systems usually contain underground wastewater treatment structures (such as a septic tank and leach field) that use a combination of natural and technological processes to treat wastewater from household plumbing produced by bathrooms, showers, kitchen drains, and laundry.

Solids typically will settle in the septic tank while the wastewater will exit via the leach lines and be treated in the soil through the leach field.

Election season is here. Per city code, election-related signs must not be posted within the city’s rights-of-way or attached to other signs, utility poles, trees, traffic lights, big rocks, etc. If you post a sign on private property, be sure to have the property owner’s consent. The signs cannot be a traffic hazard or block driver visibility in any way.

There may be other requirements that apply to these signs from the Bella Vista POA or ACC office. Consult those offices for further information.

If your sign is picked up because it was placed where it should be, you may collect it within 5 days from the city’s Planning & Development office at 101 Town Center. If the sign is not claimed within 5 days, it will be discarded.

Ten years ago this October, the Back 40 Trails opened in Bella Vista. They were built after a record-fast nine months of construction, opening to be showcased that year at an international mountain biking event held in Northwest Arkansas.

We are celebrating this month and next and you can get cool stuff for joining us. Nature Discovery Hike — Tuesday, Sept. 29
Join a master naturalist starting at 9 a.m. to discover native trees and plants and identify some species you may not already know.

Parking will be at the Blowing Springs trailhead.

Attendance will be capped at 15 participants. RSVP at the link below - first come, first served.

Please bring water and wear sunscreen and appropriate shoes and attire for hiking on soft, dirt trails. Friendly dogs are welcome on a leash, but due to the trail surface strollers are not recommended.

The event is weather permitting.
