Due to a second Motor Vehicle Accident, Interstate 587 is now shut down between Exit 42 (Greene County Line) and Exit 48 (Wesley Church Road). PLEASE AVOID THE AREA FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE.

Bell Arthur Fire Department is currently on scene assisting Farmville Fire Department with a Motor Vehicle Accident on Interstate 587 directly beneath the NC 121/North Main Street Overpass. We ask that you avoid the area for the near future as both Interstae 587 and NC 121/North Main Street are currently closed in both directions.

Farmville is currently responding to a MVC-Pin in on I-587 in the area of MM 47.5. West bound and East bound lanes will be shut down between HWY 258 and Wesley Church road, for an unknown time. HWY 121/North Main Street will shut down due to safety reasons. Please avoid the area for the time being. We will post updates when able.

Bell Arthur Fire Department is currently on scene assisting The Red Oak Community Rural Fire Department with a Motor Vehicle Accident in the area of Mile Marker 119 on NC 11 Bypass Highway in the South bound lanes. We ask that you avoid the area as the South bound lanes between Interstate 587 and U.S. 13 are closed.

We ask that you avoid the area for the foreseeable future as the East bound lanes will be closed between Wesley Church Road and Mozingo Road.

We regret to announce the passing of Ellis Ray Peaden II also more commonly known as Ray or Pudden. Ray has been a member of Bell Arthur Fire Department since the late 1970s. He also previously worked for the North Carolina Forestry Service as a Tractor Operator, from which he retired from back in 2006. He was a life time board member, having served on our board of directors since before the year 2000, as well as serving as a Safety Officer for our department. He was a loving husband, father and friend to so many people throughout his life and he will be missed by many.
